Gol and Pastoral
da Criança sign a R$ 1 million partnership term
Pastoral da Criança national coordinator, Dr.
Zilda Arns Neumann, and the Gol Transportes Aéreos
president, Constantino de Oliveira Júnior,
signed on October 15th 2003, at São
Paulo, a partnership term at which Gol will dispose
R$ 1 million to Pastoral da Criança.
The resource will be donated to the entity as institutional
support, therefore, Pastoral da Criança will
be able to apply the money where it is more necessary.
This flexibility will permit, for example, the amplification
of Pastoral da Criança basic Actions, strengthening
of existing projects, like Youth and Adult Literacy,
Toys and Play, and Income Generation or even the creation
of new projects.
"This company’s social initiative is, for Pastoral
da Criança, innovator", says Pastoral da
Criança national coordinator, Dr. Zilda Arns
Neumann. She explains that is more frequent that the
entities adjust themselves to a determined project presented
by the Donator Company or its permitted to the entity
applies the financial resource specifically at one project.
As the institutional support disposed by Gol doesn’t
create a bond with specific projects, so Pastoral da
Criança will be able to have freedom to use all
its potentiality to benefit the most poor Brazilian
families. One of Pastoral da Criança characteristics
is to work on big scales, without loosing quality. Thus,
UNICEF and the World Health Organization to consider
a world reference at the Integrated Attention strategy
of Prevalent Illnesses at the Childhood and they tell
that there is thousands of good projects at small scale,
but they hardly get the amplify their scope. Pastoral
da Criança is a unique entity at the world level
that reached the desirable capilarity without loosing
its focus or its efficiency. Other Pastoral da Criança
characteristic is its transparency: its financial data
and the reached results at each one of the communities

The trust Gol deposited on Pastoral da Criança,
will ease the improvement and amplification of its actions.
TAM – The Air Company TAM also collaborates with Pastoral
da Criança. It will dispose a discount of 65%
at air tickets for more than 200 Pastoral da Criança
coordinators from all Brazil, that will come to Curitiba
to participate at the I National Congress of the entity,
that will mark Pastoral da Criança 20th
birthday. The Congress happens on December 9th
to 13th, with the closing on 14th,
with a pitched mass and cultural shows.
