Zilda Arns launches the first Pastoral da Criança at aboriginal soil at Roraima

The village Malacacheta, Serra da Lua region, was chosen to be the Pastoral da Criança embryo at aboriginal soil at Roraima State. The proposal was launched by the national coordinator dr. Zilda Arns during a meeting with the Local Health Council, on July 21st, at the same village. "My coming here was to bring the proposal and show that Pastoral da Criança has contributed at the fight against infant mortality at other aboriginal regions", she justified. After the discussions the meeting’s participants approved by unanimity Pastoral da Criança implementation.

From August, the state coordination will begin to train the volunteer aboriginal leaders that want to contribute with the mission. Zilda explained that the coordination will offer the training and will distribute the educative material that will be worked out with the families. She believes that, later, the project will be able to be implant at other region, since it passes through the approval of the communities.

Pastoral da Criança, CNBB – Brazilian Bishops National Conference - social action organization, it is indicated for the third time to the Nobel Peace Prize by the Brazilian Government. This year the entity completes 20 years of fight against children malnutrition and infant mortality from 0 to 6 years old. During the visit coordinator to Roraima was celebrated 10 years of Pastoral da Criança action at the State.
