Pastoral da Criança elaborated the document "Convocation
to 2002 Election Candidates for the construction of
a peace culture and a society with more social justice
and fraternity", with 25 proposals at the health,
education, environment, food security, social assistance
and other areas. At the next Wednesday (September, 11th),
at 5 p.m., at Pastoral da Criança headquarters,
in Curitiba, the candidate to the Republic Presidency,
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, signs the document.
The document will be delivered to all candidates to
the Republic Presidency, by the entity's national coordinator,
Dr. Zilda Arns Neumann. The first one to sign the document
was the candidate José Serra. The order for delivery
of the proposals is being organized according to the
agenda's coincidence of the candidates and Dr. Zilda,
in Curitiba or Brasília. Pastoral da Criança
is keeping contact with all the campaign committees
to schedule the delivery of the material.
At is experience of 19 years, accompanying monthly
more than 1.6 million pregnant women and needed children
below six years old, Pastoral da Criança understands
that the sum of efforts is the main path to obtain positive
results. The reduction of child mortality of more than
half the national average, at the communities where
Pastoral is organized, it is the fruit of work done
by more than 155 thousand volunteers, belonging to different
religious beliefs and political parties.
The goal of this document is to convoke the candidates
to assume, with Pastoral da Criança and other
entities, the compromise with proposals that can be
accompanied by the communities. The same document was
sending to the 6,648 Pastoral da Criança coordination
teams, present at 3,555 Brazilian counties. Each one
of them must articulate the Pastoral da Criança
proposals discussion with the candidates to its State
Government, Senate and Representative's House.
The effort of the coordinations of the entity, at
the sense of promoting the meetings with the candidates
of various political parties, it is a contribution for
that the life quality of Brazilian children and families
be a prior goal at all government programs.
