After18 years of experience, the Pastoral da Criança proves that it is possible to reduce child mortality and malnutrition developing the potential of children, educating women, preventing marginality in the family and, hence, in the communities and in the streets. And last but not least, it is needed to promote Christian fraternity through human solidarity networks that are built in the communities and always improved.

Through its community experience and encouraging participation, the Pastoral da Criança has everyone improving their individual role in the process and interfere in the organization of their community discussing policies that affect and, above everything, rescues family ties of living together and sharing. The consolidation of such strong social foundation, based on the care for children since prenatal and the empowerment of social networks, in poverty and misery areas, foster the growth of citizens who value one another and include them in all processes of building and changing the reality.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to remember that the search for solutions to the problems that make indigents out of millions of people around the world and 13% of the Brazilian population takes two ways: first, there must be a change in the world economic order and in the macro-structure of the country, in a way that makes possible a fair distribution of richness; the second involves human solidarity and a coordinated effort by all ranks of the society, committing everyone to a new social ethic that shall build a culture centered in respect and praising life, which ultimately results in peace.
