The
International Pastoral da Criança action is based
on technology transfer and promoting the start of independent
Pastorais da Criança units, based on the Brazilian
experience. According to a Brazilian law, national philanthropic
organizations such as the Pastoral da Criança
are not allowed to transfer resources to support activities
in other countries. However, right now there are 14
countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia, which have
already implanted or are in the process of implanting
activities based on the model of the Pastoral.
These
results were only possible when representatives of Latin
American and African countries visited Brazil to know
the Pastoral work, and took training sections specially
organized for coordinators from other countries who
were interested in the Pastoral approach. These foreign
leaders stayed in Brazil for average 15 days, getting
to know the experiences of the Pastoral in Brazil and
participating in internships at organized communities.
After the training, they returned to their countries
and started the Pastoral da Criança independently
there, adapted to local realities.
Although
less structured and having much less time than the Pastoral
da Criança do Brazil, the international experiences
are on the road to success and giving hope to many people.
Many reports register the reduction in malnutrition
and infant mortality rates in organized communities
abroad, as there is also a significant increase in social
participation and strengthened links between the populations
involved in the projects.
Among
the nations that have developed similar experiences
to the Pastoral da Criança in Brazil, many countries
